What We Do

Sustainable Garden Design

The design process begins with a Free Consultation where we figure out your dream garden. We help you determine how you want your space to function, how you want it to look and feel and how it can become a thriving ecosystem that attracts native pollinators, feeds the soil and contributes to the overall health of the surrounding environment.

Once the ideas are flowing, we create a Concept Plan that is drawn to scale and includes all the elements that align with the design objectives.

Our sustainable garden designs will include a Planting Plan that provides a detailed list of plant species and can also include a Maintenance Plan, so the garden has the ability to thrive for years to come. The Planting and Maintenance Plans provide you with information to help you take care of your garden on your own, or have The Homestead Helpers plant and/ or maintain your garden for you.

Maintenance: We are available to garden with clients to provide guidance, or we can work independently. All planting and maintenance packages start with composting to feed the soil. Once planted we water, weed, stake, prune, trellis, harvest, reseed, and replant as necessary, all while trouble shooting common garden pests, diseases, and soil and plant deficiencies. We can also establish barriers to protect your crops from hungry wild life and floating row cover to increase successful germination and to protect against insects and frost.

Why Regenerative Gardening?

Regenerative gardening is an environmentally conscientious approach to managing and planting gardens. Regenerative gardening techniques enrich the soil’s microscopic life for robust ecosystems. In addition to maintaining the soil’s quality, regenerative practices increase soil fertility and makes efficient, natural, and cautious use of natural resources. Overall, healthy soil provides a solid foundation for optimal plant growth, ensuring high quality yields that enable you to live a sustainable, self-sufficient life.
